Dr.APJ Abdul kalam 3rd remembrance day In Rameswaram

Our beloved People’s President’s Dr.APJ Abdul kalam 3rd remembrance day function turned out to be a day to remember for the students and parents of Ramnad district for the rest of their lives, which was first time of sorts for them! 3rdremembarance
Held at Goswami Hall on 27th July, it turned out to a full on dedicated show for the student community; true to the spirits of the beloved departed soul graced the occasion.

The highlight of the remembrance day, was the events that preceded the main function, where 6000 students from 25 schools and colleges in Ramnad district participated in various events such as Elocution, Drawing, Essay writing, Craft, Model project etc. The topics touched various subjects from Mathematics, Environment, Farming, Space research to current, such as the Safety of girl child, and inculcating the values of unity in diversity. The wide range of topics touched almost all important aspects and appreciations poured in from all educational institutions for the simplicity and sensitivity of the topics!
600 prize winners were selected and honoured by our Cheif guest in the presence of their parents brimming with pride.

The day also saw the inauguration of “Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam Centre for Igniting Minds” in many schools. The centre is an ode to the late President’s enthusiasm in shaping young minds and to develop scientific temperament.

The event was a grand success in all aspects and the House of Kalam is overwhelmed with the response and cooperation of the educational institutions. Together, a productive path is laid for a beautiful journey in the quest for knowledge and in the shaping of responsible citizens of our beloved country.

Dr Jitendra Singh delivers Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial Lecture


The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North-Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s ‘New India’ will actually redeem Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’s ‘Vision 2020’.  He was delivering Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial Lecture here today. On the occasion, the Minister also gave away Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial Awards to the bureaucrats for working in public interest.While delivering the lecture, Dr Jitendra Singh said that being associated with Dr APJ Abdul Kalam is a learning and hugely inspiring experience. He said that his public and private image had no contradiction. It requires huge amount of introspection and self-evaluation to be true to yourself, he added. The Minister also spoke about the scientific temper of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. He said that ‘Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Center for Policy Research and Analysis’ was launched by Ministry DoNER in October 2016 at the Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management (RGIIM), Shillong.Dr Jitendra Singh said that ‘Vision 2020’  is not only a numerical vision, but actually a vision of ‘New India’ also envisaged by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He said that Prime Minister’s New India will actually redeem Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’s ‘Vision 2020’.The members of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam International Foundation and senior bureaucrats were also present on the occasion.Other speakers, including Shri D.R. Kathikeyan former Director General, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and Shri S. M. Khan, then Press Secretary to the President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, also shared their experiences of working with Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.

‘House of Kalam’ launched the Dr.
A.P.J. Abdul Kalam International
Foundation on 11th October 2015.
The foundation was formed to
fulfil the dreams and progress the
ideas of Dr. Kalam. Dr. Naseema
Mariyakar, who is Kalam’s niece,
is the founder chairperson of the
foundation. The foundation aims to
help research and foster innovation
in the areas of Water Conservation,
Environment, Education, Farming,
Rural Development, Healthcare and
Sustainable Environment.
This foundation also collaborates
with the Central Government, State
Government, NGOs, corporate
and donors and organizes various
programmes such as promoting
science among school children,
making health facilities available
at villages, promoting sustainable
environment like planting more trees
and clean water availability. Apart
from this, on 27th July every year,
the foundation organizes Dr. Kalam
Memorial lecture by eminent people
of respected fields.

Kalam Sandesh Vahini Vision 2020

Children who arrived at Rashtrapati Bhavan from Rameswaram by the bus ‘Dr Kalam Sandesh Vahini Vision 2020’ called on the President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, at Rashtrapati Bhavan today (October 15, 2017).


Speaking on the occasion, the President said that Dr Kalam is one of the greatest personalities ever. He said that he saluted Dr Kalam and his monumental achievements as a scientist, a scholar and as the President of India. One of the best ways of building the character of the youth of any country is to inspire them to read biographies of great personalities.

The President said that Dr Kalam was one of India’s greatest visionaries and is fondly remembered as ‘The Missile Man of India’ and ‘People’s President’. He has made momentous contribution to India’s scientific heritage through his involvement in varied fields ranging from nuclear technology to designing low cost stents for the heart or lightweight calipers for polio victims. India will never forget the remarkable contributions of Dr Kalam. He had a great passion for teaching and education and truly ignited young minds with the power to think and innovate. He enjoyed being with people. He was adored by people and youngsters. He loved students and spent his final moments among them.

The President said that the Dr Kalam Sandesh Vahini bus presents the life story of Dr Kalam in a very interesting manner. He appreciated the effort. He said he was sure that a large number of Indians, especially the young people have benefited by seeing the mobile exhibition on the life, works and the vision of Dr Kalam.

The Kalam Sandesh Vahini was launched by House of Kalam and Chinmaya University. The Vahini depicts various incidents from Dr Kalam’s life as well as key highlights of India’s scientific achievements, with an aim to educate and inspire the masses. It was flagged off by Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi from Rameswaram on July 27, 2017, during the inauguration ceremony of Dr Kalam’s memorial. The Vahini has travelled from Rameswaram, through various states, to finally arrive at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.


Earlier in the day, the President paid floral tributes at the portrait of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, former President of India, on the occasion of his birth anniversary at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Officers and staff of Rashtrapati Bhavan along with family members of Dr Kalam also paid floral tributes on the occasion.
